Course Presenters

Ms. Kim Brown

Ms. Kim Brown is the Provincial Weed Specialist in Manitoba. She provides information on weed management in field crops in Manitoba.

Martin Carr

Martin Carr leads the Agronomy and Market Development research program for Winfield United Canada in western Canada. Winfield United is recognized as a global leader in adjuvant technology.

Dr. Charles Geddes

Dr. Charles Geddes is a weed scientist with AAFC in Lethbridge, AB. He leads the prairie herbicide-resistant weed surveys, and research on the discovery, characterization, monitoring, and management of herbicide-resistant weeds in western Canada.

Dr. Rob Gulden

Dr. Rob Gulden is a faculty member in the Department of Plant Science at the University of Manitoba. Rob conducts research on weed and crop ecology, herbicide resistance, crop modeling, and biostatistics.

Dr. Joe Ikley

Dr. Joe Ikley is an Assistant Professor and Extension Weed Specialist with North Dakota State University. He has responsibility for weed control in agronomic crops. His research program focuses on management of herbicide-resistant weeds in row crops.

Dr. Peter Sikkema

Dr. Peter Sikkema conducts research on weed management in corn, soybean, edible beans, and cereals. Peter taught the “Herbicide Physiology and Biochemistry” course.

Dr. Breanne Tidemann

Dr. Breanne Tidemann is a weed scientist with AAFC in Lacombe, AB. She conducts research on integrated weed management strategies, novel weed control, and weed biology and ecology.

Dr. Tom Wolf

Dr. Tom Wolf is owner of Agrimetrix. Tom is recognized as a global leader on herbicide application. Tom has presented at conferences around the world.

More than five hundred people have taken the course! Attendees have come from Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island, plus numerous US states. The age range of course participants was from 20 to 74. Attendees were from almost all the herbicide manufacturers and many of the ag retailers across Canada plus farmers, agronomists, university professors, and Agriculture Canada research scientists.
